Getting started
Applicants
Apply to a workshop or conference and follow your application.
- Find a workshop that is open for applications on the home page. Browse workshops
- Open the workshop and choose its application form. You can apply as a guest, or log in first so the application is saved to your account. Log in (optional)
- Answer each section and submit. You get your reference on screen and a confirmation email. Choose a workshop
- If you applied while signed in, follow the decision for each track on My Applications. My Applications
Organisers
Host your own workshops, from the application form to certificates.
- Create an account, or log in if you already have one. Sign up
- On My Account, set your account type to Organisational and save. My Account
- Still on My Account, use "Host your own workshops" to send a request to host, with your organisation's name. Request to host
- A Mycelity Platform Admin reviews your request. Once it is approved you are your organisation's Super Admin, and Admin appears in the menu. Admin
- In Admin, open your organisation and choose Create workshop. Create a workshop
- Open the workshop's Forms tab and build the application form: its sections, questions and branching. Build the form
- Preview the form, approve the preview, then Publish. Publishing makes the form and the workshop public. Preview and publish
- On the workshop's Team tab, assign your Reviewers, Practical Workshop Organisers and Speakers by their account email. Assign your team
Reviewers, Practical Workshop Organisers and Speakers
An organiser gives you your role for one workshop; you don't request it yourself.
- Create an account with the email address your organiser will use to assign you. Sign up
- Once you are assigned, your pages appear in the menu under "My Roles" (on a phone, tap Menu at the top). Home
- Reviewers open Review, pick the workshop and review applications by Applicant ID. Review
- Practical Workshop Organisers open Practical Organiser and pick their site to see its applicants. Practical Organiser

Glossary
- Platform Admin
- The team that runs Mycelity itself. Platform Admins can see every organisation, approve requests to host, review account erasure requests and set the platform's fees.
- Super Admin (organisation admin)
- Runs an organisation across all of its workshops: creates workshops, builds forms, assigns the team, shortlists and issues certificates, all from Admin.
- Regional Coordinator
- A Super Admin for one workshop only. They manage that workshop from Admin but not the rest of the organisation.
- Reviewer
- Assigned to a workshop to read and review applications. Reviewers work under blind review, so they see an Applicant ID rather than a name.
- Practical Workshop Organiser
- Runs one of a workshop's hands-on practical sites, and sees the applicants for that site on the Practical Organiser page.
- Speaker
- Assigned to give a talk at a workshop, and keeps their speaker profile up to date on the Speaker profile page.
- Applicant
- Anyone who applies to a workshop. You don't need an account: guests can apply too.
- Applicant ID
- The number shown instead of your name during blind review. It identifies your application without saying who you are.
- Blind review
- Reviewing applications without knowing who sent them. Answers to identifying questions (such as your name or email) are hidden; an organiser can reveal some details only once the platform, the workshop and a shortlisting decision all allow it.
- Shortlisting
- The organisers' step of deciding who goes forward on each track: shortlisted, waitlisted, accepted or not accepted.
- Tracks (symposium, oral, poster, practical)
- The ways you can take part in one workshop: the symposium (the main programme of talks), an oral presentation, a poster, or a hands-on practical session. Each track you apply for gets its own decision.
- Workshop and form
- A workshop is the event itself. A form is one set of questions attached to it, such as the application, an expression of interest or a feedback survey. One workshop can have several forms.
- Application allowance
- How many applications an organisation can receive in a year, across all of its workshops, on its hosting plan. On a monthly plan it builds up a month at a time; the free allowance can also be given out in monthly portions. Surveys and feedback forms don't count.
- Hubs
- Marketplaces that sit alongside the workshops and use the same account. Anyone can browse most of them; posting or applying needs an account. Each Hub is listed below.
- Learning & Practice
- A personal, self-tracked practice log — no sharing, just for you.
- Research
- Find or start a workshop-tied or general research project.
- LabSharing
- Offer or find reusable equipment time, reagents, protocols, and more.
- LabSurplus
- Donate, sell, or dispose of equipment you no longer need.
- LabConsortia
- Pool demand with others for bulk/group procurement.
- Review2GetPaid
- Volunteer for a paid manuscript peer review.
- Review2Sequence
- Volunteer for a manuscript peer review and earn redeemable credits.
- Job Board
- Post or browse paid job listings.
- Workshop Partners
- Match with a sponsor, or a candidate Regional Coordinator/Practical Organiser, before your workshop exists.
- ApplicationBind
- Compare what a grant applicant promised against what they actually delivered.
- Discover
- Events relevant to your interests, some hosted on Mycelity and some elsewhere, which you can filter by place, topic and date.
- Fast AI
- A paid add-on for the AI features (poster and certificate text, survey insights and more). They normally run on free models on our own servers, which can take a minute or more; Fast AI answers in seconds, and each AI action uses a few credits.

How do I know my application arrived?
You see your reference (an Applicant ID) on screen as soon as it is in, and we email you a confirmation if the form asked for your email address.
